Well as mentioned in our previous post we had our PCI appointment on the 8th January.
Overall we are happy with the build, and the house did not look like it had chicken pox. Mainly just a few painting issues and marks left behind by 'cowboy' tradies not taking too much care with their tools etc.
One thing that has got us concerned is the gap between the garage door and brick work - this is caused by 'something' not been completely square and apparently can not be fixed - wrong answer - everything can be fixed!!! Our SS recommended that we monitor the gap and if we find it 'too' much, and it lets water etc into the garage to make note of it in our 90 day maintenance report (I am pretty sure he knows it will on that report).
At the end he informed us that our Handover date will be Tuesday 22nd January.
Very excited to have a date.

Happy New Year
We have not dropped off the face of the earth, just nothing has really happened at the house since early December - until we finally received our PCI date 8th January 2013.
Visiting the house regularly over the Christmas/New Years period we were able to compile a list of things we wanted to 'discuss' with our SS and thanks to the cleaners who left the door unlocked for us we were able to have a thorough look through the house. All items on our list are minor and hopefully easily fixed. I will comment on this in another post.
On another note we have completed one part of our side fence.

Hiring a '2 man' post hole digger made it slightly easier but when that fails the good old shovel and crowbar came in handy. |
After a few bruises and little bit of sunburn the poles where in place.
Returning the next day we continued with the rails. This required a lot of patience as Daniel is very particular about things being straight.
Nice and straight. |
115 palings later and we have a new fence.

Carpet is in
We decided to go by the house on Sunday and measure up some of the windows for blinds etc, only to find that the carpet layers were on site - impressed working on a Sunday.
The Carpet Layers were happy for us to go around and measure all of the windows and have a quick sticky beak at the carpet.
Underlay in main bedroom (foam).
Jacks bedroom.
I must say we are happy with our colour choices....it is really looking good.
Media room.
I did not want to get in there way so unfortunately only got a couple of photos.

Dulux Red Box
Hooray, it has finally arrived.....the glass splashback has been installed.
Now all we are missing is the Kitchen appliances and carpet.
Apparently the 'big' boss (from Metricon) is walking through the house next Tuesday, then we will get our chance to walk through with the SS and mark everything (already on our list) with little 'dots'.
Bring it on!!!!

Flooboards are in!!!
Well the floorboards are definitely in, as well as the hot water system and also the solar power panel box 'thingy' in the garage.
Might need those cleaners back...
Depending on the light, they look different
We have noticed a slight discolouration - which is visible in this photo and the first photo if you have a closer look to the left hand side.
We hope the glass splashback will brighten up the darker colours???
Hot water system - not sure about the power point, thought it may have been hard wired???
Solar Panel box 'thingy'.
Our SS rang today and said that our glass splashback has been delivered and installed.
Can't wait to see how it looks....slightly nervous....this was Daniel's choice, so if it looks ordinary, I can blame him :)

Lights on
The 'cleaners' have been through the house today. Not sure what they consider clean, but most of the dust and paint has been removed from the floor and windows, ready for the floor boards and carpet tomorrow.
Once again they have kindly left a door unlocked for us to get a few photos.

Butlers Pantry looking nice and shiny
Shower screens have been installed
Kitchen - without splashback - so looks very plain.
It was late afternoon when we got to the house so we were able to have a sneak peek at the lights.
Surprised with how much 'light' they actually put out.
Looking down the hallway towards the 'unpainted' front door - they had to replace it as the other door was damaged.
Standing outside looking in towards the kitchen.
Door handles have also been put on.
While having our self guided tours we have found a couple of things that will need to be fixed up -
- Bulkhead in hallway crooked
- Window in living area - crooked - noticeable when you try to open and close it
- Wrong tap handles - after the really long process of selecting everything you would like it to be right
- Garage door not flush
- Mark on garage roof - like something has fallen through it and it has been patched up
I am sure these things will be dealt with and fixed before handover, considering we are not going to be in there until next year - plenty of time!!!
On a happier note our floors will hopefully start tomorrow.
Can't wait to see how the colours mix.

PCI update
We met our SS at the house this afternoon and had a quick tour through the house. He informed us that our glass splashback is expected any day, the cleaners are booked in for Tuesday with the floor and carpet to start on Wednesday. His boss will go through the house the following Tuesday and then we will be able to get a PCI date. He was really honest and admitted that we will possibly will not be in before next year - the house will be fully completed but with Metricon shutting down for Christmas mid December, he could not guarantee that all the paperwork would be completed to submit to the bank in time.
Oh well...it is out of our hands.
